Aetna covers ABA therapy in Colorado for members with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis. As with all major commercial insurers in the state, Aetna is required to cover medically necessary ABA services under Colorado's autism insurance mandate. Aetna uses a clinical review process for prior authorization that evaluates the treatment plan, functional behavior assessment, and diagnostic documentation. Aetna also administers Medicaid managed care plans in Colorado through Aetna Better Health of Colorado.
